Story
Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters
Pre-game
In a distant future, Nepgear and Maho were left as the only surviving CPUs, with only A.I. replicas of the others. They capture one of ASIC's robot soldiers, reprogramming it into an ally that Nepgear named N-Gear ver. 16-RE: Additional Edition, and attempt to modify it for time travel to fix the past, though Histoire insists that they should focus on the protecting the survivors. They obtain the necessary parts, but run into Arfoire, who has been consumed by her excessive power into a pure force of destruction with no sentience. They are unable to defeat her, and she proceeds to fire an attack at Histoire's ship of evacuees, presumably killing them all. Nepgear orders the N-Gear to retreat.
Hiding in a cave, Nepgear is revealed to have suffered a grievous injury from one of the robot soldiers before they escaped. She admits that the N-Gear's time travel requires a tremendous amount of power, which she decides to donate herself, knowing that she will die in her current state. As she entrusts Maho with the past, Nepgear decides to rename the robot Ziri.
Returning to the present day with Ziri, Maho resolves to save the world and transforms into Grey Sister for the first time. She assists Purple, Black, White and Green Heart in seemingly defeating Arfoire when she first revived in the PC Continent. However, Arfoire would proceed to possess Anri, and then Rom when Anri was struck down. Grey Sister repeatedly traveled through time in an attempt to defeat Arfoire for good, sometimes even siding with her to get an opportunity, but never succeeded.
In one timeline, Arfoire killed all the Candidates except Nepgear, leading to their sisters willingly sacrificing themselves to Gehaburn so Nepgear could use it to slay Arfoire. She succeeds, but with all her loved ones dead, commits suicide shortly afterward. Distraught, Grey Sister shattered Gehaburn and kept a shard to power Ziri's time travel, unaware that Arfoire's lingering soul had overheard what she was saying and hitched a ride with her to the present.
The Maho of the present submitted to Arfoire without resistance, and became her subordinate.
Chapter 1
Two years later, Ziri and Grey Sister appear in an empty field with the former waking up the latter. She then tells her that the smartphone share rate is at approximately 70%, which is enough to unleash the latter's ample power and decide to search for an automated factory in southern Leanbox.
Chapter 2
Ziri arrives at Heroux Cave out of nowhere right after Aneeta Job's defense system was activated. She then tells the CPU Candidates and IF that her AI will be copied onto the mech soldiers and used to eliminate humans. Vert then arrives to the scene to help the Candidates stop Ziri from deleting Aneeta. After defeating Ziri, the Candidates, Vert and IF arrive at the rPhone factory where they see Aneeta once again and mentions that Ziri connected to her and executed her deletion command and is about to vanish in a few minutes. Maho later attempts to reprogram her, and cancels the shutdown.
True Ending
Ziri is reformatted as a laboratory in the 12,000 years it had been sent back. She then provides Nepgear, who had been invited to the lab by Aneeta, with a second IS Crystal created by Grey Sister. Having calculated the coordinates for time travel during the 12,000-year period, Nepgear is given one chance to go back to when the original IS Crystal was created and have them mutually destroy each other, erasing all the events caused by its existence.
Etymology
Ziri's name comes from Siri, a digital assistant used in various Apple devices.
