Little Purple Sunshine

"Little Purple Sunshine" (陽だまりの茄花リトルパープル, Hidamari no Nasu HanaRitoru Pāpuru, Sunshine of the EggplantLittle Purple) is the final OVA of Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation. It first premiered at the Anime Expo on July 3, 2022.

Plot

The four CPUs are fighting Arfoire once again. She then summons Level Trick, a combination of Trick and various monsters to level down the CPUs. As the CPUs engage in combat, Purple Heart defends herself from Level Trick's attack, but the remaining three get caught in the level down beam. Purple Heart then charges at Arfoire, and suddenly gets attacked by Level Trick with her.

Later on, the CPU Candidates go on a search for the CPUs, only to see them as children. Meanwhile Arfoire, who is now young, wakes up in an eggplant farm and encounters child Neptune sleeping in the shed.

At the Planeptower, the CPU Candidates babysit the child CPUs while the older Neptune starts playing with them. IF, Compa and Histoire arrive to witness the young CPUs, with Histoire stating that the CPUs had lost their memories after becoming much younger, and IF mentioning they were unable to find Neptune.

Back at the eggplant farm, Arfoire attempts to get Neptune to try eggplants by cooking a mao eggplant dish. While Neptune states that she doesn't like it, Arfoire tells her not to be picky, but Neptune refuses. When asked what her name was, Neptune mentions she can only remember her name, and questions why. She later asks Arfoire if she can have something else, but Arfoire tells her to finish the eggplant dish first. Neptune calls her a rude person and later goes to bed.

Meanwhile Nepgear does some searching, then older Neptune tells her that she took care of the child CPUs and questions what she is doing. Nepgear answers by telling her that she is checking real time data to pinpoint where her sister is located, and she must find her ASAP. Older Neptune then volunteers to help her.

Cut to the eggplant farm once again, Arfoire claims that her and Neptune are the real owners of this farm, and talks about how great eggplants are and how she loves everything about them, and implies herself as the biggest eggplant enthusiast, but Neptune doesn't feel any interest for them. Later on, the two begin harvesting eggplants, while Arfoire still attempts to have Neptune eat them at least once by making various eggplant recipes. During the montage, IF and Compa appear to help older Neptune and Nepgear locate the younger Neptune's location, and Arfoire gives Neptune homemade pudding as a reward for helping her farm. The other CPU candidates and Histoire later join the search party, and Arfoire finally gets Neptune to eat eggplants by baking her a pie filled with them, in which Neptune then likes it.

Arfoire hears bells from far away, then Neptune questions what they are doing. Arfoire mentions there is a wedding happening at the church, then Neptune states she wants a beautiful dress because she wants to stay with her forever. the two later go back to work by fixing up the shed, but Neptune trips and falls and Arfoire falls through the shed. Neptune asks Arfoire if she is okay, but she later witnesses a flashback of Purple Heart, and mutters the word "goddess".

Meanwhile in a secret cave, Level Trick has harnessed enough energy to put an end to the goddesses, but still doesn't know where Arfoire is.

Younger Vert has found something strange on one of Nepgear's screens and shows her Level Trick coming out of the cave, leading to where Neptune is. Histoire gives Purple Sister the Share Crystal to help Neptune bring back her powers. Older Neptune then tags along to help search for the younger Neptune.

Back at the shed, Arfoire thinks about the past encounters with the CPUs and how she was defeated countless times by them. Neptune asks her if she wants to go somewhere, but Arfoire states she must not have compassion from a goddess, and doesn't want to see her anymore, which then upsets Neptune.

Cut to nighttime, where Neptune is at the farm, when suddenly, Level Trick surprises her and attempts to level her down even more. Arfoire saves Neptune, but gets trapped by Level Trick's beam, making her even younger. As Neptune attempts to protect Arfoire, Purple Sister and older Neptune search for Level Trick. Suddenly, the Share Crystal starts flying off of Purple Sister's hands and heads toward the younger Neptune to restore her powers and gains a new form to defeat Level Trick.

After Level Trick got leveled down by Neptune, the CPUs and Arfoire return to their normal selves, and Neptune thanks Arfoire for saving her. Nepgear and older Neptune finally arrive to the scene to see Neptune unharmed, but Arfoire scares the three off with an "eggplant attack".

Back at the Planeptower, the CPUs talk about what happened during the fight with Level Trick and how they became children. Nepgear then shows off the pictures of the young CPUs to them, and mentions that she will put them on the internet. IF and Compa later arrive to the tower with pizza that Neptune ordered. As she opens the box, they notice that it's a suspicious looking pie, with Noire suggesting Neptune not to eat it, but does it anyway. She mentions that it tastes like eggplants, and admits that it's tasty, but hates it at the same time. The pizza delivery person would later be revealed as Arfoire in disguise and warns Neptune not to go to her eggplant farm ever again.

• Neptune received a new form and defeated Level Trick to turn the CPUs back to adults.

Setting

The CPU Candidates find the child CPUs, excluding Neptune, in a forest and on a grass field. They later bring them to the Planeptower to babysit and find a way to turn them back into adults. Young Arfoire and Neptune bond together at an eggplant farm.
