General

Generals (武将, Bushō, lit. Military Commander) first appear in the spin-off game Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart as characters who represent specific video game franchises. The Generals, much like the Makers hold many references and similarities to the product they personify, ranging from their appearance to their movesets.

Naming conventions

It should also be noted that unlike Makers, the names of Generals are not blatantly the names of the products they represent. For example, Lid is the personification of Metal Gear Solid; Lid is derived from the 'lid' in 'Solid.' There is also the case of Saori who represents Tokimeki Memorial. Her name has no relation to the title of the game but rather a character from the game itself who has the same name.

Nation placing

Each nation has their own generals which are placed based on their relation to consoles and companies, such as Ryuka belonging to Planeptune due to the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series (known as Ryu ga Gotoku in Japan) is made by SEGA despite being on PlayStation consoles. Where Generals reside are mostly determined by console/company origin.

Lists of Generals

The following is a list of Generals. It should be noted that while Tekken could technically be considered a General due to representing the Tekken franchise, she is considered a Maker. This same logic can be applied to Compa, IF, and Sting who are technically Makers due to representing game companies though are labeled as Generals in Hyperdevotion Noire. This is likely due to keeping consistency of labeling in the game despite technicalities.

Tiara is also not included in this list due to not personifying anything and simply being a guest DLC character from Fairy Fencer F. The following list will simply be based on characters from Hyperdevotion Noire and will not include already established or technical Makers and non-native Neptunia characters.
