A Game Over can happen in various ways in the Neptunia series. It can mostly occur if the player's party is annihilated by having 0 HP for all party members.

Usage

Main Series/Remakes

Hyperdimension Neptunia

When all party members have 0 HP in battle, they have the option to try the battle again or give up resulting in a Game Over.

Restarting the battle will result in Planeptune's shares permanently decreased by 1%.

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2/Victory/Re;Birth Trilogy

When the HP of all party members becomes 0 in a non-Colosseum battle, they will get Game Over and be sent back to the title screen.

Megadimension Neptunia VII

Although similar to mk2/Victory, the Game Over screen has various messages that can occur after the player's party gets annihilated:

  • "Neptune blacked out!"
  • "Nep's party was annihilated..."
  • "And they were never heard from again..."
  • "You lost..."
  • "Death should not have taken thee, Nep..."
  • "It's a sad thing that your adventures have ended here!"
  • "The journey is over. Take now a long, long rest!"

A Game Over can also occur if the player loses all of their lives in the Neplunker dungeons. This can be prevented if the player has Sturdy Heart enabled after starting New Game+, resulting them going back to the map screen.

Spin-offs

Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection

The player can get Game Over if they fail to impress the CPUs and gain their shares and fans back or if their stress goes up to 100% resulting in a bad ending.

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart

A Game Over can occur if all units are defeated or if the player fails a mission.

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed

If the player (and their partner is defeated), they have an option to either continue or quit.

MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies

If the player gets Game Over, they will have the option to save their progress and be sent back to the menu screen.

Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls

Similar to mk2-VII.

Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online

If the player character or all party members are defeated while in a dungeon without using a Philosopher’s Stone, they are sent back to the hub world.

Neptunia Shooter

The player can get Game Over if they lose all of their lives.

Neptunia Virtual Stars

Similar to Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online, if both character groups' HP is 0 while on a field or fighting a boss, they are sent back to base with some penalties.

Neptunia x SENRAN KAGURA: Ninja Wars

Similar to Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online.

Dimension Tripper Neptune: TOP NEP

If the player is out of health, when played on normal difficulty, they can continue playing by spending some of their points on their score, otherwise when played on hard, they will instantly get a Game Over.

Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters

If all party members are defeated during battle, the player has the option to retry the battle, adjust current party, reload a previous save file, or return to title. Retrying the battle will deduct 5% of CPU shares.

Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution

Similar to Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters.
