Dungeon System/HDN

The dungeon system of Hyperdimension Neptunia is a type of dungeon crawl system where the player roams around in a dungeon to accomplish a set of tasks. Monster encounters are random, and a battle would occur if the player travels a predetermined, random amount of steps in the dungeon.

Abilities

Each playable character in Hyperdimension Neptunia has an ability that can be utilized in the dungeon. These abilities include Hammer Crush, Monster Call, and Treasure Search.

Summoning circles

A dungeon may contain a section of an area where there's a dark, glowing rune on the ground. If Monster Call is used while standing on one, the player will trigger a battle against a Clione.

Random encounter

Monsters are encountered by random encounter. By stepping a predetermined, random amount of steps, the player will battle various monsters.

If a player saves in a dungeon, the player's last position will be save. Reloading from there will reset the amount of steps before a monster encounter is encountered.

Treasure chest

There may be treasure chests in a dungeon that contain loots and valuable the player can acquire. There may also be a hidden chest in a dungeon. If the player uses a character with the Treasure Chest ability, the player can locate the hidden treasure and loot it.

Terraportation

Traveling from one landmass to another requires traveling in a Terraportation dungeon.
