Gakuen Game Neptune: Katsudou Diary/Chapter 2

From Neptunia Wiki

Synopsis

Arfoire and Linda are working on a game to compete against the 4 Goddesses. Suddenly, Arfoire summons an army of zombies and tasks them to interfere with the Goddesses' game development while the two continue to work on their own game.

Meanwhile, the Goddesses think up another idea for a game after Histoire rejected their shooting game. They then decide on making a flashy, mega fun action game. Neptune first suggests on making an Action RPG. Noire mentions that adding RPG elements would be too complicated. Vert explains the different varieties within the "Action" genre, such as 2D side-scrollers, fighters, and games where the player swings a weapon around to take down waves of enemies. As Neptune knows about the varieties, Blanc gives out her opinion that she likes "Action-Adventure" games where the visual novel sections are the main draw. Neptune then suggests that their game should be a "Beat 'Em Up", but Noire thinks it should be nonlinear with puzzle-solving elements in dungeons, and Vert also thinking that it should also be an online 3D action game with beautiful visuals.

As the four can't settle on a single idea for a game, they hear a scream coming from Nepgear, who is being chased by Arfoire. The latter announces that they have established a new club, known as the "Shadow Gaministrators". She then explains that her new club will oppose and hinder the official Game Club and starts summoning her zombie army to take them down. As the zombies vandalize their club room, the 4 Goddesses try to think of a way to drive them away. They first decide on using Hard Drive Divinity, but decide not to due to Gamicademi being a human school, and transforming would be a last resort. They finally decide to lock them out with an "anti-zombie" lawnmower turned on. Arfoire and her army then retreat and head for their next target.

Nepgear mentions how the juniors were talking about the Goddesses working in the Game Club, and she decides to join in to help. As she is being asked by her sister on what kind of action game should they make, she suggests adding the zombie army from before as the main theme. They all agree to this idea, and start adding on to this action horror game by including various types of weapons, such as guns, swords, rods, etc. Neptune also adds into the idea that there should be a cool and stylish female protagonist, with Nepgear being one of them. She then summarizes the main setting as a desolate wasteland with Nepgear as a survivor, who defeats the zombie onslaught. As other ideas, like using green herbs to heal sound all familiar, they decide to name the city "Bermuda", in which Noire rejects it due to sounding like an artist's name, and later apologizes to them. Continuing on with the plot, Nepgear arrives in a town full of living people, who then turn into zombies if she stops to take a break in the first town.

The Goddesses hear another scream coming from outside the window, this time they see Uni, Rom and Ram, who are captured by the Shadow Gaministrators. Arfoire tells them if they surrender the room quietly, she will release their sisters. Neptune then roasts her for being "middle-aged", with the latter showing that she is good-looking as the other Goddesses. As they have no choice, the four finally transform into their Goddess form and start saving the Candidates. Arfoire is defeated, and the other 3 Candidates are left unharmed, with the windows left broken, thinking that they should have left them open before transforming.

Meanwhile, Linda is working solo to get the game done with zombies trying to interfere in development.
