Viral is a monster status that first appeared in Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2. It is gained when the enemy is infected by a bug during battle, that causes them to go berserk. Once an enemy goes Viral, its health is completely restored and it becomes much more powerful than its normal form. It should also be noted, that the color scheme of the Viral enemy changes into a much darker one.
When a monster has gone viral, the bug can spread to other monsters present on the field during battle. It is unknown whether or not there are certain conditions that can be met to allow a monster to go viral, or if it is just an entirely randomized process.
